The nikah paperwork checklist, step by step
Paperwork is the least romantic part of a marriage and the easiest to get wrong. Start early.
Identity documents
Valid passports or national IDs for both of you, and for your witnesses.
Your wali’s consent
Where the bride’s wali cannot attend, ask early how his consent must be given and certified.
Registration
A nikah should be registered with the authorities where you live, so it is recognised for residency and family matters.
