Privacy policy
Effective 14 October 2026
- We collect what a marriage profile needs, and your verification images.
- No member ever sees your live photo or ID. They are used to verify you, and for nothing else.
- We do not sell your data or run advertising that follows you.
- You can download your data or delete your account from Settings, at any time.
Eelaf is a marriage platform, not a data business. This describes what we collect, why, and how you can see it, export it, or make us delete it.
What we collect
Your email and the details you add to your profile. We collect a private live photo for verification and, only if you choose, a government ID. If you allow it, we collect your phone’s approximate location. If you add a wali, we collect their name and email to send the access link.
Why we collect it
To run the platform: to review identity, clearly show whether that review is pending or approved, operate introductions and messaging after approval, give your wali the read-only access you set up, and enforce the rules if someone breaks them.
Your verification images
Your live photo and any optional government ID are used only for verification. They are never shown on your profile or to other members, and review access uses a link that expires.
Photos you delete
A photo you delete leaves your profile straight away, and no member sees it again. If it had already been reviewed, we keep a private copy for safety checks, such as confirming that new photos show the same person. That copy is never shown to other members, and it is deleted when you close your account.
Who sees what
Other members see the profile fields you choose to fill in, and your photos only once visibility rules allow it (by default, after a match). Your wali sees the conversations you invite him to, and nothing else, not your other matches, not your ID, not who you have declined. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Your location
Eelaf asks once whether you want to share where you are, and you can say no. If you agree, we use it only to show you the members closest to you first. We keep it rounded to about one kilometre, we never show it to anyone, and other members see only how far away you are, such as “12 km away” (never less than 1 km), and only if both of you have shared. You can hide your distance, update your position or remove it at any time from Settings. If you do not share, profiles are ordered by city.
Where it is stored
Photos and documents are stored with Cloudflare, encrypted in transit and at rest. Profile and account data is stored in our own database. We do not run ads or analytics that track you across other sites.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, or close your account, at any time from Settings in the app. Closing your account removes your profile, photos, and messages from Eelaf straight away.
Children
Eelaf is for adults seeking marriage. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we verify age as part of onboarding.
Changes to this policy
If this changes in a way that matters, we will tell members by email before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
